The Dvar have a spark of everlasting genius in them called Moradin's Gift. It's unclear whether this was Moradin's intention or a happy side-effect when he created the Dvar. Different sects of the Mordinsamman faith hold different interpretations.
The spark predisposes the Dvar to excel at engineering and crafting. This especially includes prospecting, mining, smelting, metalwork, and related magitec. Dvar aren't born with the relevant knowledge, skills, or dispositions. Rather, Dvar who invest time and energy in learning and experimentation have a higher chance of doing exceptional work.
The Mordinsamman faith teaches that Moradin's Gift is a double-edged sword. Dvar who create powerful items, especially weapons, must be careful they don't fall into the wrong hands. The faith emphasizes that Dvar must place the good of the clan and the stronghold at the center of their lives, to ensure that Moradin's Gift is only used for communal safety and prosperity, not vengeance or other unseemly pursuits.
Across the multiverse, in every society on every world, it's far too easy for scientists, engineers, and crafters to develop tunnel vision. There is joy and satisfaction in discovery, solving problems, and perfecting designs. At times, it can be seductive. A being can get lost in that joy and forget to consider the wider implications of giving a better weapon to a king or a faster transport to a merchant. Moradin teaches the Dvar to always recenter on what's best for the clan and the stronghold. -Forgekeeper Auras Goldbraid, Lessons in the Embers
