The Tower of Brass leaves in a fortress in Sigil. It's currently owned and managed by a council that includes Danja Dragonborn, Raptor Blue, the Guild of the Smallfolk, and the Tynkers Guild.

The Tower is a walled compound, with the back wall near the edge of Sigil's great ring. The outer walls are tightly-fitted dark gray bricks and marked with giant Dvarven runes inset with iron. These walls are around thirty feet high and topped with shards of multi-color glass, with an inner walkway for sentries/defenders. The outer bailey is a small market square with several businesses. The tower itself has a hexagon footprint and a total height of over 210 feet, or 21 stories. The first 12 stories are composed of massive, tightly-fitted light gray stone blocks. The remaining 7 and 9 stories are two slightly-smaller hexagon towers of similar but smaller blocks, linked by bridges.

Layout

  • Walled compound
  • Outer bailey is market square
  • Inner bailey is stepped garden with statues and ponds
  • The Queen's Tower is 9 stories higher and includes an interior, full-height atrium with a giant metal tree named Grandfather Brass
  • The Eagle's Tower is 7 stories higher

Scaly Nook

Jane Irwin shared this vision of the flooded stepped gardens, in the rear bailey:

An image comes over the Chain: a boggy pool covering most of the back of the Tower of Brass Leaves, clogged with debris from the building and other trash, a hell of a mess made somehow by something that must have come through the Tower like a cleansing wave and washed the detritus out to this area where it has languished for some time. Then another image (https://pin.it/6RBxDja) in half construction, with a lizard folk druid assisting Jane as she pours energy into something like a cypress tree that grows from the brackish water, one of several forming the foundation of a.... community? There’s small houses springing up in a style that works with the environment she is making, attached to the trees and the massive curtain wall that rings the Tower. The water is cleaner; trash has been removed or in some cases recycled into building construction, paths raised and paved in wood or stone, sometimes as bridges. Mushrooms in wild designs and colors, often glowing, dot the area. It’s dusk, and Jane looks tired as the tree grows a foot every few minutes, but she doesn’t stop as it reached higher and higher. Fireflies float above lilypads and something across between a bush and a mangrove. Across the way, beyond the construction, a lizard folk dives into the water with a ripple and seems to bring up something from the bottom, a deeper end. The walls have been enchanted to give the illusion of more space, and the area smells like wet growing things, peaty and rich like clean rain. A cool mist is rising as the faux night of Sigil falls, and frogs start to croak, cicadas joining in, while the fireflies twinkle and a single hoot of an owl punctuates the air for emphasis. White flowers from some dangling vine are beginning to bloom in the night, and now it’s apparent that some of the mushrooms that glow have been strategically placed as lighting, not just decor.

History

  • Built centuries ago, owned and occupied by many different groups
  • From about 1600-1745, the Tower was the headquarters of the Redeemers
  • Jaroc the Unblemished, a demon, helped lead the invasion of the tower and the massacre of the Redeemers
  • Jaroc became trapped in the factol's study. Nevertheless, his corruption slowed permeated the Queen's Tower, smothering Grandfather Brass and raising dozens of undead
  • By fall 2017, the deed to the tower belonged to the Guild of the Smallfolk, lead by Senior Engineer Lurkiss Ponsmack (gnome he/him)
  • Ivotran Hawkin (human he/him) won the deed to the tower in a game of chance
  • Ivotran is a devil cultist, and gave the deed to Thol'godoth
  • Thol'godoth is a devil in the LRC and he gave the deed to Sekata Darnas, a Nightmare Speaker of the Yuan-ti
  • The Yuan-ti moved into the basements and tried to use the magic of Grandfather Brass and Syl the Pale Fen (a green dragon) on a clutch of lizardfolk eggs
  • Emyla brought various members of Raptor Blue to the tower in Path Quests, to clear out the Yuan-ti, Jaroc, and the undead
