RMJ 2-8: Louisa's Apartment, Primex HQ, and Bryn Shander's Power System

Mission Report

Sunday, March 14, 2027 ((2023-10-08)) Team: Balto (Cael), Doc (ABSENT), Key (ABSENT), Breaker (Wynrri), Pebble (Basil), Skadi (Aslene), Wraith (Mike)

Louisa’s owl, Vanessa, flew up to the window, and then to Louisa. Balto reassured Vanessa and Skadi placed a minor enchantment on the owl. Once we knew Louisa was safe, we split up on various taskers.

Skadi and Pebble visited Louisa’s apartment and found nothing of concern. Pebble received a vision that showed the Humbled Crone collecting the demonic soldiers we killed. Skadi met Julian Turner, a ranger, and he gave her a cylinder of nanites from a red iron crab. Breaker inspected the city’s power grid and planned possible improvements. Based on Pebble’s vision, Breaker realized that Izros Tear Miser may have secretly escaped total destruction.

Wraith and Balto visited the city’s Primex HQ. They met Dr. Rose McLean, who is incidentally very interested in Balto. Wraith used his bounty hunter access to review the current bounties and contracts. We reconvened at Dr. Campbell’s office. We met Molly Price, a cleric of the Defiant Mother. Her order has been watching us. Allegedly, they can use clairvoyance despite the Wall. They want to help.

• Balto (Teagan Cordova): Togo clickwhistles and Balto laughs- the two almost wrestle, there, Togo's youth and Balto's own playful nature coming out. But bloodied though she is, she isn't put off at all. She stands tall and strong, despite the fight. Ahklut is an apex predator, and Sihblos is an extreme place. His species and his shamans are not, apparently, afraid to fight. Not in the slightest.

• Magni dons his sacred Hi-Vis vest and hard hat before doing the diagnostics
• Louisa's snowy owl returns, Vanessa (she/her), distressed
  • Vanessa the owl has a long-term enchantment that bonds her to Louisa (as a pet/friend)
• Louisa was researching and reflecting on becoming a mom
• Balto (Teagan Cordova): Togo and Balto keep up thier uncanny harmony, the echo of whalesong in their low humm.
• Skadi places a warning cantrip on Vanessa the owl, to help Louisa notice a Swift attack (expires at sunrise)
• Breaker inspects the city’s grid
  • Grid is running lower than normal load on purpose, to conserve
  • Some of the current load is being diverted to maximize storage
  • Bryn Shander has a good start on being a major power distribution nexus
  • Breaker orders some improvements from what's on the walker. More is possible with resources from the northern settlement.
• Primex HQ is partly open on Sunday, because the Sihblosians don't recognize a weekend.
• 1st Officer/Executive Officer ("XO"): Erik Badgerheart contacts Wraith about Anderson the lizard trying to eat a power coupling
• Primex lobby. Wall screens off. "We're all in this together."
• Rose McLean, Deputy Lab Director, Human, she/her, Science division
• Head of Primex in Bryn Shander: Oye Yatsumi (Human, she/her), Regional Holdings Director
• Balto (Teagan Cordova): Togo was sitting quietly, by all accounts well-behaved.... but his eyes watch the woman behind the desk. Balto puts a hand on his bead, and the /stillness/ eases a bit into something less stiff.
• Deputy Director is out of town inspecting the rail-line construction
• Dr. McLean would love to have her colleague, a veterinarian, collaborate with Balto on studying Togo
• Wraith looks up current contracts/bounties
  • Reward for intel on missing airship, more for safe return of cargo and/or crew
  • Reward for intel on Childstealers activities in the Plateau
  • Reward for missing engineer from railroad project
  • Bounty on a software engineer contractor who disappeared with sensitive data, possibly was an agent of a hostile organization
  • Bounty on a suspected assassin who may have been hired to disrupt railroad project
  • Private investigator contracts on business intelligence and due diligence on business activities (e.g., real estate purchases)
  • Wraith provides contact info, just in case of availability/interest in unlisted contracts
• Pebble has a vision in the elevator
• The demonic soldiers were not destroyed. Their spirits could not return to the Abyss, because the Wall prevented them. Instead, they were gathered by the Humbled Crone, deep underground.
• Skadi encounters two young people on the stairs

  • 2 clansfolk, in town while their clan is doing business, borrowing an apartment from a contact, dressed in expat clothes to see the sights
  • Their walker is bound for Targos

• Breaker realizes that Izros that may have found a way to survive, and Izros tried to hide this fact
• Skadi and Pebble research Louisa's quarters. They find a consistent story of a hard-working novice companion.

• Ranger was waiting for Skadi
  • Julian Turner (Human Sihblosian, he/him) is a middle-aged ranger. He is dressed in layers of fur clothing, including a hooded parka made from caribou and seal skin, fur-lined boots, and gloves. His parka has intricate woven patterns with motifs of animals and clan walkers. Julian carries several knives, a spear, and a hunting rifle. His brown skin is weathered from years of exposure to the harsh Sihblosian climate, with deep lines etched from years of squinting against the glare. His black hair is long and unkempt, usually tied back in a ponytail. Julian stands and moves with lanky ease.

Turner: These were infesting a pine tree on the caldera ridge. The infection seemed to spread from a bug-like robot made of red iron.

• Turner: Walk soft, clansib. The night is ever hungry.
• Railroad project was underway before the Wall. Bryn Shander to Targos is almost complete. There are concerns about the power needs of the railroad, in light of the Wall.
• Samuel Campbell (Centaur, Ravnican, he/him) is a master psion. He is a lean, intelligent centaur with beautiful hair, a magnificent beard and moustache, and wire-rim spectacles. His equine body is covered in fine chestnut hair. Doctor Campbell wears a tailored shirt, tie, and vest, as well as many clockwork talismans. He seems educated and authoritative.
• Molly Price (Human Sihblosian, she/her) is a tec cleric of the Defiant Mother. She has dark, clever and long braided hair. She wears gray robes and advanced cybernetic gauntlets. Molly often stands or speaks with confident impatience.
