RMJ 1-13: Taking Down the Controller and Becoming Marshals
Mission Report
Friday, February 26, 2027 ((2023-04-30))
Team: Aoibhe (Dae), Key (Dragon), Magni (absent), Pebble (Basil), Reezelyn (Aslene), Wraith (Mike)
We continued our assault on the Reaver Lorehold. We formed up at the doors to the bailey and rushed in. We fought two Reaver Commando ICE plus zombies created by the controller. Meanwhile, the controller grew stronger inside its forcefield. As a Sihblos dire wolf, Key took down one commando. Magni took down the other Commando. We used a commando's key to drop the forcefield and attack the controller directly. Wraith made the killshot. Pebble, Doc, and Skadi unmade any Reavertec chains that kept any ghosts or memories of souls trapped at the site. Magni demolished the entrance to the cave.
After we had rested on our walker, we were ordered to fly to a remote snowfield. We met Sydney Kadwell, Secretary to the Chief Justice. She commissioned us as Republic Marshals. She charged us to uphold the pillars of the Republic: Vigilance and Unity. She previewed our briefing, including how much independent judgment we'll need. We'll be mostly out of touch with New Liberty.

- Memory Bead: The sun is low and the air is warm. A man sits crossed-legged on a wooden porch. He’s methodically sorting small parts into little boxes. He has short, scruffy blonde hair and sunburnt skin. He wears a linen shirt and trousers, and he’s barefoot. A heavy iron collar pinches his neck. His fingertips are smudged with lubricant. Piece after piece, he sorts and sorts. Anger builds in his face and shoulders. He starts to stand up and shoves a box aside. The parts spill out across the deck. Someone clubs him in the side of his head and he passes out.
- Memory Bead: It's morning and the air is warm and humid. A man is slowly leading a line of young children. The man is wearing manacles on his wrists. Each child wears a shackle on their left ankle, and the shackles are chained together. Both boys and girls are wearing linen dresses. None have shoes. A fertile jungle rises high around them. A Reaver approaches and begins to inspect the children. The Reaver fixates on one of the girls and she stares back hypnotically. The man surprises the Reaver, using his manacles to strangle his enemy. But another Reaver decloaks and shoots the man in the head.
- Pebble, Doc, and Skadi unmake any Reavertec chains that kept any ghosts or memories of souls here
- Magni demolishes the entrance to the cave.
- The squad reports the location of the controller remains. Unclear when the Republic will be able to deal with it
- Sydney Kadwell, Secretary to the Chief Justice
- Sydney Kadwell is a competent, intelligent human marshal (she/her). She has short dark hair, dark eyes, and the weather-worn wrinkles of an aging Sihblosian nomad. Sydney wears the marshal standard kit of armor, gear, and weapons. Her gear is time-worn and significantlly customized. She has a small emblem of rank on her breast and shoulder: Sydney is part of the senior ranks of the Republic Marshals Service.
- Pillars of the Republic: Vigilance and Unity
- Vigilance: Spikes
- Unity is grown from the common soil of trust.
- Sydney gives Skadi a wooden bowl
- Choose an object of personal worth. When you gather around the table, place your object in the bowl.
- Justice: Constitution and Legal Code of the Republic of Sihblos
With the Wall up, your squad will have more autonomy by necessity. You'll have to make some weighty decisions on your own.
- New Liberty was the banking center and it was electronic. Early mission: cash out users' accounts into hard currency.
- The Reavers call this factory world Dakarrak, "the Lost Armory."
- Dakarrak wants to be found. It will continue to try to amass power, and then build a communications device or even a spaceship.
