Contents
Finishing the Fight
- When the battle continues, the HK starts in Spiritual Guardians
- The team battles the HKs
- Vae'gaun transfers his soul to AForm matter and rebuilds a leaper
- Vae'gaun's body turns back into Belica
- Lyndi takes down the m1 HK
- 17 pixies dance through the air in a magical circle 15 feet outward from Lyndi. They are a mixture of nightmare and disney, sometimes like miniture Granny Bones with super sharp little teeth and cunning expressions, sometimes a leather wearing motorcycle pixie with butterfly wings and a spiked club. As the Aform collapses, they swarm it, and it isn't at all pretty.
- Proud deals the killing blow to the m2 HK
- The team finds more memory gems
- Kromrak and Bron stop the AForms outside the habitat from outflanking the team
Up and Into the Cloning Lab
- Proud leads the way up the elevator shaft
- The lab is irradiated, as some kind of failsafe
- Signs of a battle, in which AForms burst from the cloning tubes
- Signs of medical research on children
- Clones rapidly grown, infused with foreign DNA, tested, killed
- The children barely lived: they were kept unconscious most of the time, then awakened for testing, and eventually killed and destroyed
- Signs that AForm plague infiltrated the cloning lab and broke out. The lab staff tried to stop them and failed, then triggered the radiation bath failsafe, but it didn't get them all.
- A solar possesses Jane
- Denah Kari: In the language of my original people, I am Denah Kari, Sunset's Glint.
- I was trapped by Tiamat cultists. I have evidence of a conspiracy to marginalize and silence Dolmodeen.
- Syvlena and Shiro determine that the lab was trying to splice DNA into clones
- Silver boxes with blood and CD-ROMs
- Belica finds furtive soul fragments
- The ghosts of children are unstable and confused
- They want their story told, then they may move on
Denah Explains World Seeds
- There are two wolves fighting within you. One wolf is your thoughts and feelings of moral excellence, which lead to habits like generosity and kindness. The other wolf is your thoughts and feelings of moral failure, which lead to habits like greed and cruelty. Which wolf wins? The one you feed: the one whose path you follow. These are the Path of Giving and the Path of Taking.
- The Paths run throughout your life, and each choice you make moves you forward on one path or the other. You're never securely on the Path of Giving, since every moment of precarious potential is a moment when you can misstep. You're never trapped on the Path of Taking, although with each step forward you may find it harder to return to the Path of Giving.
- World seeds reflect what Path a world is choosing
- Seeds are hidden among mortals
- How those mortals are treated affects the seeds
- Usually, no one can see the seeds
- Exceptions: gods, some celestials and devils
- Belica has a world seed, either inside her or in the world she carries
- Denah can see it because Belica made a deal with Dolmodeen
- Denah was placed in an archival shell
- His power was used to accelerate the clones' maturation
Into the Waystation Dome and Beyond
- Some of the heroes feel a light psychic touch
- The heroes enter the dome cautiously
- They encounter two mostly-dormant HKs
- They are part of Ruby Bridges
- Ruby explains that the Plague infiltrated the lab and then confused the staff while they built AForms in the cloning lab
- They used drills beneath the base to scare and confuse the staff
- They attacked in the lab then moved quickly through the waystation to the main complex
- The Plague took Ruby's third HK with them but haven't assimilated it
- They may be trying to get Ruby's passcode to Myriad
- The team continues to the heart of the lab
- Connector from waystation to main facility is subzero, possibly leaking, possibly structurally compromised
