RB 5-15: Defeating the Anathema, then Onward to the Aux Bridge

Mission Report

Party: Jane Irwin (Cael), Shiro (DragoN), Sylvi (Daewendriel), Kromrak (Sielic), Isabelica (Basil), Farida (Kitsunewill)
Waiting back on the Invictus (came late): Lyndi Fletcher (Aslene), Proud Flame (Aunne)

The team continues fighting the Yuan-ti leaders. Farida kills the nightmare speaker and Sylvi kills the anathema. Belica leads a team effort to dispel the evil ritual connecting the green dragon, an altar to a Yuan-ti god, and the eggs. The eggs prove to be lizardfolk. The dragon is Syl of the Pale Fen. With help from Emyla, the Raptors negotiate for Syl to leave Sigil peacefully and not attack the Tide. Syl says that she was given to the Yuan-ti by the League of the Rusted Crown, so it's the League she plans to attack. Emyla will ensure that Danja gets the eggs. The Path Quest ends and the Raptors return to the Invictus. They update Lyndi and Proud on their adventure. The reunited team uses transit spheres to reach the auxiliary bridge. They encounter a duergar zombie stuck in a habit, whom Belica helps pass on. They discover that the aux bridge is held by an undead duergar despot and his undead mechanized slaves. They plan and spring an attack using flashbangs. The early stage goes well.

Battle in the Nest Continued

• Tower of Brass Leaves Basement
• Anathema casts Haste, activates its aura, and attacks once
• Jane notes the dragon is drugged and bound, not muzzled
• Farida kills the Nightmare Speaker (Sekata Darnas, she/her)
• Altar to Dendar the Night Serpent
• Sylvi kills pureblood zealot
• And the other pureblood
• Eldritch Cannon blast buffets the anathema around in the Forcecage
• Jane uses Bones of the Earth to wall away the sight of the anathema
• And to smash through the altar
• Anathema tries to polymorph into a small snake but Belica Counterspells it
• Farida throws a cryo grenade but it hits the bars and detonates on Farida and Sylvi (n1)
• Sylvi kills the anathema

After the Battle

• Poisoned Grandfather Brass
• Syphoning its power to feed to their birthing chamber
• Infuse the eggs with corrupted mana
• Eggs are lizardfolk

• Kromrak senses and sees a yuan-ti transformation stone in the corpse of the anathema
• Kromrak digs through to find the stone
• Belica casts Gentle Repose on the body (which Haelra will later recognize)
• Belica uses Dispel Magic to break the ritual over the eggs
• Jane tries to help with Druidcraft but the miasma is resistant
• Farida calls on Rhonas for aid and he helps
• Shiro applies his understanding of spirits
• Miasma is shattered
• Emyla's corruption tracker is disenchanted at that point
• Dragon is Syl of the Pale Fen, sort of recognizes Uhoshi Nevro in Jane
• Farida frees the dragon
• Emyla will escort Syl out of Sigil. Syl has pledged to not attack Tide for 15 days
• Emyla will tend the lizardfolk eggs until Danja can take care of them
• Suwaren the Unsleeping
• The League gave sanctuary to Suwaren, who then fed on Grandfather Brass

• Grandfather Brass is a guardian of the Axis of Elusive Truths
• So is the Tower of the Spirit Songs
• Farida asks Emyla if her gods are alive
• Kromrak gets a stone-carrying box from Emyla
• The Path Quest ends and the heroes are returned to the Invictus, Main Engineering

  • 7) Try to talk Computer into Kotah way

• Moving to a transit sphere station
• Max: Nasha Pogray has asked for reading material about R3M. I can give her just the information she'd have access to on Earth's public internet, or more.
• Lyndi approves some imperfect information

• Max: The battle has been going on for a century, and it's preventing the Weave from healing
• Max: "Data Center" is the "FTL Drive" heart in the Invictus schematic
• Braid: I am not a combat model. But I have sufficient defensive and obfuscation functions.
• Kromrak asks Max to ensure the exoskeleton is kept secure. She rogers
• Shiplet 4578 went for a time trip. She's thrilled to have a unique adventure to share with her clan.

• Farida has two snakes in a bag

Approaching the Auxiliary Bridge

• Shipboard air is very dry
• Zombie dwarf: Undead mechanic wiping down a part (cleanser is a hardened puddle on the floor), installing it, tightening the retaining bolt (small shiny rod, was a bolt head)
• Belica uses illusionary angel wings to coax duergar to pass on, with help from Sylvi, and he does

• Wave of psychic vertigo
• Jane retches in her helmet
• Braid helps Jane clean up
• Team spies on officer and crew in bridge: undead duergar despot and undead duergar mechanized slaves
• They seem to behave as if the Exquisite Knife incident is just happening
• Max: This section of the ship is isolated. There are no messenger spirits relaying the duergars' messages.

Assaulting the Aux Bridge

• Plan made and confirmed
• Flashbangs stun all but the despot
• Sylvi and Gatriel attack first
• Proud kills a duergar
• Shiro blasts a hole in the wall
• Belica casts Chain Lightning
• Kromrak deals killing blasts to three duergar in a row
• The despot uses two flame jets, then uses his iron fist to kill Phobos and fling him across the bridge
• Jane heals Phobos
