Battle Wrap-Up

  • Noon, lunch time
  • The heroes investigate the theater further
  • The decay of the Bella Santiana
  • Remains of the Bone Terror
  • Pentagram made by mixing melted popcorn butter with pig's blood
  • Objects at pentagram points: a sharpened silver butter knife; a wooden toy train; a lacrosse stick; a broken mirror; a composition notebook
  • Max has worked with Talarin has put together a Treat, Analyze, & Gather Team (TAG Team): mundane security and specialists, to control the site and collect evidence; she'll send them in when RaPT3R Blue is ready to depart
  • Jane contacts Brother Iron about Ed's summons
    • He's an observer on the CRA and will be there
    • He's sending an apprentice to Jane with a copy of the prophecy
  • Ryu directs Draco to model the theater digitally
  • Team checks out the ritual objects, removes one, feel traces of magic dissipate
  • Ryu and Jane inspect remains of bone terror, discover that it's marked with Infernal glyphs that charge it to guard the space and attack anyone not allied with the Legions of Hell
  • Chuck finds: on the side of an old desk, a relatively-fresh carved heart: RD+LC

Back to the Fort

  • Clean up and regroup in the common room in an hour
  • Ryu gets ring of Alter Self, to let Ryu experiment with a physical appearance
  • Jane meets Yardley McBride, waiting outside the Fort
    • Black firbolg male, skater, 7'6"
    • Apprentice to Brother Iron
    • Supposed to give drive to Jane, wait until she's ready because she'll be a bit preoccupied
    • It's a USB drive, use an air gap computer
    • Jane gets such a computer from Joe's room
    • The drive has comprehensive data on three stone tablets that hold an inscription in elvish. The date includes dimensions, weight, carbon dating (at least 300 years old), likely area of origin (not Earth?), and multiple translations.
  • Fort , Common Room , Max has food ready (including delivery from A Taste of Bali)
  • Lyndi gives R3M jackets to the team
  • Nails starts briefing
  • New probationary member: Quill Draper
    • Associate of Ed's
    • Nails says, My driver, er, almost hit him
    • I recognized him from a R3M shortlist of significant Unbound in North America
    • He says there's probably a reason we crossed paths
    • Since we already vetted him… (gestures vaguely)
  • Nails says 3 primary issues

    • Demon and Raph Decosta

  • Joe
    • Joe looks different. His head is hairless, including no eyebrows or eyelashes. His face and the rest of his skin is now gray, and mostly covered by a matrix of woven silver and copper wires. He wears stiff gray robes covered in a patchwork of green silicon circuit boards, classic video game cartridges, and cracked smartphone screens. His eyes are featureless matte silver. When he speaks, his teeth are matte silver, too. He carries a matte black rod about 3 feet long, but its lines blur and flicker.
    • "Behold the power of Order. I have become an instrument of the beauty of ontology and sequence.
    • "I am Exannarq, chosen agent of Primus.
    • "I urge you to respect Primus, the One and the Prime, the Clockwork God, Lord of Mechanus.
    • "The True Order is in jeopardy. The leaders of your world must safeguard and uphold the True Order, or agents of Mechanus shall be sent to enforce it for you.
    • "The Iowa Event was your first warning. The Black Mambas safehouse was your second warning. You must decipher the prophecy and neutralize the threat to the True Order.
    • "Sibling, you must accept this change. I entered freely into this bond and it cannot be unmade. In service to the True Order, I have found my purpose. Always my mind craved new horizons of knowledge, new depths of understanding. All will be unfolded for me now. All will be clear. Do not despair for me. I have become something greater."
  • Primex and Wasteland
    • NeoCyclic rebuilding with clear federal involvement (that suggests Farwatch)
    • Forbidden lore stolen from Quarenzend? Ajami left Earth to investigate
    • Still need to trace the source of the metabiotic crystals
    • Lyndi taking the artifacts from the lab probably stopped NeoCyclic from having a reliable portal
    • Reliable portals are hard to create on Earth, because of the Breakwater
  • Nails explains what happened to Joe
    • Joe was loaned by Nails to a Phoenix Group team at the Very Large Array in New Mexico. They were investigating a possible Assembler incursion. An alien signal was infecting researchers and causing them to build some kind of suit or exoskeleton. There was a confrontation with the infected staff, leading to a stand off. The alien force threatened to kill the researchers unless it received a willing host to use the exoskeleton. The transformation would be irreversible. Joe volunteered. He become an avatar of Primus.
  • Demon and Raph Decosta
    • Nails: What's your assessment of the situation?
    • Other demonic activity in the city
    • The Black Mambas are definitely aligned with a devil cult, if not a cult themselves
    • Demons are hard to kill, and almost never stay dead; Talarin sent some Bullets of True Death, need to use a ritual to enchant them; ritual requires knowing the details of how the demon was summoned, specifically what was traded
    • Need to follow up with the summoners (the teenagers)
    • Team has started making sense of the ritual objects
    • Raph currently has a minimal digital footprint, but the four other teens are in Chicago and active
  • Discussion of the prophecy
    • Curiosity about earlier stanzas
    • Ed and Lyndi know elvish
    • Nails is unwilling to collaborate with Talarin, whose interest is primarily Tessera
    • Nails is willing to collaborate with the Temple of the Four Dragon Paths
    • Ed and Lyndi could use Talarin research materials without revealing why
    • Ryu could contact the Temple
    • Jane could contact the Order of One Terra
  • RA Hearing
    • Review of CRA Summons [note]
    • Preliminary hearing is Friday, Nov 10, 10 am. The location is the Chrome Anubis Club, here in Chicago.
    • We have until 10 am Friday to get ready.
    • Nails is having Max prepare a briefing on RA
    • Max gives the rough draft, details the members and observers
    • The Louisiana CRA follows a charter very similar to the US Constitution, since both were partly written by Thomas Jefferson, an Unbound
    • Braxton Hilberk is advocating against Ed. He's a very successful lawyer, with a history of working for the Bratva--a Russian syndicate--that employed Lena Mikhalov. Ivan Sokolov is the head of the Bratva, and may be who extracted Lena from R3M custody.
    • The Preliminary Hearing involves details of the charges and a vote on whether to continue with a full inquiry.
