Know Your Path
OOC
See also: Paradigm
!!! We're not currently using these rules. Instead, see: Flair, Groove, and Source
As an Unbound, your character's ultimate source of power is their belief. For example, a wizard's spells are powered by the Weave, but it's their willpower that catalyzes the process. Similarly, an archer's aim is a product of training and practice, but it's their self-discipline that leads to extraordinary shots under pressure.
Your path emerges as you choose or change aspects.
Questions
At least for now, we're not using this. Instead, we're using Aspects.
First, read Path, River, & Wheel. Second, read Aspects. Then please answer these questions.
- What is your Path? (This could be similar to an Ideal and/or Bond. Write it as a goal that you will achieve.)
- What is something positive that you have added to the Wheel? (This could be similar to an Ideal and/or Bond, but it must be concrete and explicit.)
- What is something negative that you have added to the Wheel? (This could be similar to a Flaw, but it must be concrete and explicit.)
- What is your Wall? (Write it as a goal that you will achieve. You must answer for the next level barrer you face. Optionally, you can tentatively answer for one or more barriers beyond that.)
Answering these questions may be hard and may take time. That's OK. The DM is happy to help. You don't have to share your answers with anyone but the DM. However, you're free to share.
This activity is OOC. However, obviously these should be meaningful thoughts and feelings for your character. Some may be subconscious or only half-explored. Your answers may change over time. For example, you might envision a particular Wall for Level 13, but shift to a different one during Level 12.
Example: Draco Young
1. What is your Path?
I should have died. I will understand how others' ambitions and lust for power lead to my salvation and Change. I will oppose the beings and organizations that threaten innocents, like the innocent I was. I will serve the forces that saved me.
2. What is something positive that you have added to the Wheel?
I have helped other innocents survive and heal, including the Bella Santiana teens, Deanira Taylor, and her son Levell Taylor.
3. What is something negative that you have added to the Wheel?
I have violated the privacy of innocents, in my desire to understand the internet and the world. This goes beyond hacking for my team. I have read private emails and text messages of strangers, just out of curiosity.
4. What is your Wall?
Level 10: I will stop living in hiding. I will get formal approval from the Rational Ascendancy to remain on Earth or I will leave.
