The Fated is one of the 15 factions of Sigil. The Planewalker's Handbook has this to say:

Wealth, power, friendship, happiness--it all belongs to the capable, to those who know how to obtain it. Take all you can, and push till you can't push any more. Those who make it to the top belong there. Those who complain about bad luck or unfair treatment don't deserve any better.

The Fated is a strong ally of the League of the Rusted Crown because they see slavery as absolute meritocracy. Those who are too weak to avoid slavery should belong to and serve their masters. On the other hand, if a slave manages to kill their master or escape, the Fated cheerfully affirm that they've earned their freedom. That philosophy doesn't always go over well with other members of the League.

The Fated and the Fraternity of Order have some of the best lawyers in Sigil. Many trials in the City Court see advocates from each faction across from each other.
