Among us "Chess Masters," we debate something called the "Blood Mirror Theory." The notion is that the Blood War is both literally and metaphysically tied to the moral quandaries of the multiverse. In our era, slavery is such a quandary. For example, bloodstones embody one of the most extreme forms of slavery: burning another soul for one's own gain. In the Blood Mirror Theory, of course devils and demons would be involved with bloodstones.
It's worth noting that while devil cults push obedience and discipline on their members, demon cults often urge and celebrate freedom and hedonism. Demons aren't necessarily anti-slavery, but freedom and chaos are inextricable. For example, many governments restrict freedom in attempts to limit chaos.
It's worth mentioning the discontent among some in the Upper Planes that the heavenly hosts are restricted in their intervention in the Blood War. Most famously, this discontent lead to Zariel's Fall. Closer to home, Gatriel was Cast Down by Tempus when she pushed him to take a stand on slavery. It's significant that Dolmodeen Reclaimed Gatriel. That and the larger commitment of the Covenant of Chain Breakers show that not all the gods are content to stay on the sidelines. That also makes sense in the Blood Mirror Theory: many mortals, including many gods' followers, have embraced new beliefs and values around slavery in the last few centuries.
