Amethyst a small solar system in the Closeness. It is uncharted, mostly uninhabited, and not part of the network of jumpgates.

Amethyst 3

The third planet is an Earth-like planet in the Goldilocks Zone. Amethyst 3 (or simply "Amethyst") is mostly covered in vast oceans. Ahvilora and Dolmodeen populated Amethyst with flora and fauna from other worlds, especially Earth. The world later became infested with Planters.

Aedin (ToA 3-16): Amethyst is a series of contradictions. It is a prison for Dolmodeen's enemies and a refuge for escaped slaves. It is also a place of arranged death for the Greater Elven Galactic Hegemony of Tanyth Aramont. T'Aramont exiles a particular kind of undesirable here: individuals of sufficient reputation and influence that they cannot simply be executed. Instead, they are sent here to die while hunting. It's a kind of unhurried capital punishment. At the same time, some T'Aramont citizens choose to come here to die hunting, a kind of self-chosen euthanasia.

Most flora and fauna have a genetic mutation that resists DNA/RNA editing by nanites.
