RR 2-5: Defeating the Necrostorm Ghoul

Mission Report


Sat, Apr 20, 2019 ((2022-09-17))
Team: Delly (Cael), Fonn (Dragon), Ikhilzis (Schizo), Lae'eni (BLANK), Lottie (Basil), Smokes (Aunne), Ulthane (Sielic), Zenovi (Dae)

We defeated the lesser undead, including the zombies and most of the necrostorm hounds. The necrostorm ghoul proved harder to kill. At one point, they paralyzed Delly. However, she threw off the paralysis and Zenovi healed her. The ghoul expressed disdain for Dolmodeen. The ghoul also called us foolish, saying that our allies would loot our world. Ilkhilzis dealt the final blow to the ghoul, then slew the last hound.

Meanwhile, our immediate area shifted deep into the Abyss. We seem to be within a crypt of Orcus, the Demon Prince of Undead. The necrostorm ghoul was forming body from within a dank metal sarcophagus that is welded shut. The crypt itself is made of corpse stone: a kind of concrete made from cremating mortal victims. Each block is marked with Orcus' symbol. Just taking an etching of the symbol threatened Ulthane's sanity, but he resisted most of the effects.

We defeated all the visible foes. When Smokes started wondering about closing the rift and getting home, Kefnet manifested around her. The necrostorm paused around us, like the eye of a hurricane. The Amonkhet god of intellect asked if we understood how grateful he is for being freed from Adinzar.

  • Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): C: There is a feeling in the Chain, simmering * Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): Delly jerks, bloodied and golden-eyed, that inner fire eclipsing her normal blue. She rolls over with a snarling smile, her teeth pink.
  • Ikhilzis Poisonblood: C: Oh, right, planning on throwing a grenade, Try not to close to the conference room.
  • Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: C: Here's hoping you can get it through the window.
  • Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): C: Kilz,it's a wee bit late for that, but I'm only bloodied. Hit this fucker."
  • Ikhilzis Poisonblood: C: Well that grenade was practically a dud.
  • Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: The flame around Delly is like a second corona of blue flame; opaque and fierce. Topi's horns still flicker and glow.
  • Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): Delly, wreathed in fire, weilds steel in one hand and cold in the other. The pressure she applies in combat is as crushing as the oean depths, Any weakness is exploited, the brutality of winter howling in time with the song of her blade and her heart.
  • Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): "Lovely of you to join me, dear."

  • Ikhilzis Poisonblood: "We had to do a bit of cleanup."
  • Blocks are corpse stone, and marked with Orcus
  • Ulthane investigated the blending of realms, revealing corpsestone markers and crypt walls. Marks of Orcus were etched into the corpsestone. An etching rub was taken of the symbol. Ulthane has a bad time looking upon the heart of Orcus. A sample of corpsestone was retrieved.
  • Necrostorm hound believe it's on fire (from Smokes' illusion)
  • Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw [Sylvan]: [Translation] Time does not bring relief; you all have lied Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
  • Orcus has an indomitable fixation on the beautiful stasis of undeath.
  • Fonn Razorenth: Fonn sniffs at the fallen necrostorm hound. It was surprisingly dexterous, she admits, however it was only delaying the inevitable
  • Delly (Delsari Orist Nym Galadant): "That combo is so simple, but /so/ effective."
  • Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw surruptitiously wipes away tears. Takes a long breath. Her wings flutter.
  • Ikhilzis Poisonblood looks at his gore stained blade. "This is going to take a bit to clean."
  • Ulthane activated his electronic stimulant, and an Orcus infiltrator worm lurched into the electronic activator. It is trapped for possible study.
  • Kefnet is the freed Amonkhet god of intellect and knowledge (he/him). He has the head and wings of a metallic ibis. Kefnet wears flexible scalemail armor and loose robes. He ofen carries a stylized axe: a symbol of cleaving truth from falsehood. Kefnet's very presence sharpens the mind and strengthens clear, logical thinking.
