RB 4-7: Regrouping After the Time Trip

Party: Lyndi Fletcher (Aslene), Jane Irwin (Cael), Cyrus Riggs (Sielic), Proud Flame (Aunne), Cadeos (DragoN), Haelra Vayn (Basil)

The Raptors regrouped at the Fort and made decisions. Brother Iron and R3M President Bernard MacLachlan helped. Jane lifted the insectoid curse on Ryu. The team learned that Nails is in a comatose state of depression, as the target of a psychic attack. Brother Iron will bring in a psychomancer named Blake to help, and Blake may need the team to assist. The team decided to keep Jerry Artino out of Chicago and out of the custody of the Rational Ascendancy, by declaring that he's under immediate threat. Tentatively, Jerry will live and train on Cryos until he catches up with the timeline. The team learned that Harold Zhao was magically wounded by the explosion of the reality anchor. The team continued extrapolating about how the various factions on the Edge are manipulating events or being manipulated. The team set priorities.

• Raptors arrive at the Fort
• Jane Irwin: Jane slaps Haelra on the back and uses Cure Wounds 4th level on her.
• DM: > Cyrus orders the team to take a brief break to get cleaned up and then meet in the war room
• DM: > Jane discerns that Ryu is cursed by high-level insectoid magic
• DM: > Lyndi summons Phobos back
• DM: > Phobos has a copper touch to his tail (from Exannarq's time travel magic)
• DM: > Team takes a short rest, then meets in the war room
• DM: > Phobos may react in unusual ways to time magic
• DM: > Phobos eats ravenously
• DM: > Draco is with Jane
• DM: > Stygi is well and evidently suffering no long-term effects from the time travel. He is upset that he was never allowed to directly attack one of the smelly bugs, because he totally could take them.
• Jane Irwin: Jane takes care of Jerry, snuggles Stygi, gets coffee, cleans up a bit and hauls ass to the war room, picking up Jerry on the way back.
• Max: > Cleans up, puts on her uniform, puts on a sidearm, returns to the war room

Deciding Jerry's Future

Jane Irwin: Jane offers Max a casual fistbump on the way in.

• Max: > Confers with Krisella, who remains in the background of the meeting to fill in any gaps
• Max: > Returns Jane's bump and Lyndi's salute
• Joslin is relieved that Draco is back and hugs Draco/Jane
• Jerry: > Also sitting off to the side
• DM: Major Virgil Kopson
• Jane Irwin: Jane slams back her coffee, shadows around her eyes. She keeps an eye on Jerry.
• Max: > Col. Bernard MacLachlan is on route to the Fort
• Max: > He'll arrive by helicopter from O'Hare in about 30 minutes
• Jane Irwin: Jane looks nervous at the idea of major head honchos payinmg them a visit. She gets a second cup of coffee.
• Draco: > (Chain) I don't quite know... what to make the information that my future self implanted something in Jerry.
• Draco: > (Ch) Part of me wants to examine it, and part of me doesn't. Cybernetics are ethically complex, as humanity is currently discussing.
• Jerry: > calls Father D's fortified school "the Colony" and planned to help it from outside
• DM: > Chuck is rushing back to the Fort through the snow, because he was at Talarin Crystal Tower collaborating on getting more information about Raptor Blue, and there's a snowstorm
• Max: > sips her coffee, looking supremely happy to have some
• Joslin: > makes conversation with Jerry (demonstrating some new level of understanding of how she can help the team)
• Jerry: > seems perfectly comfortable talking with a stranger orc lady
• Jane Irwin: Jane is clearly not into that idea.
• Lyndi 3.0: Lyndi is clearly opposed to the safety issues involved with keeping Jerry in Chicago.
• DM: > Brother Iron and Chuck arrive
• DM: > Chuck is wearing a suit, demonstrating how hard he was working to get intel on Raptor Blue
• DM: > Bro Iron fills in the team on what the Edge has been gossiping about
• Jane Irwin: Jane frowns a little at the divine bit there, like she doesn't like it.
• Haelra Vayn: Ellison sleeps on Haelra's head while Haelra tries to keep from nodding off unsucessfully. Laws are dumb Haelra misses just having to win the favor of one king or one head priest to do something
• DM: > Bro Iron re-inventories the dragon souls and dragon touched among the team
• DM: > Bro Iron explained that Jerry is dragon touched, too, and probably supposed to form a team that would take over from Raptor Blue if they fell
• DM: > Decision: Jerry takes a tour of Cryos and decide whether to spend the near future there, and thus out of reach of morally-gray CRA factions.
• Jane Irwin: JAne tells Jerry explicitly that he is NOT allowed to die.
• bumblebasil (Haelra Vayn): And Haelra knows how to find dead people so Jane will NOT let him die because then she will NEVER let him hear the end of it

Deciding Other Matters

• DM: Nails: He had been staying in a hotel room, finalizing his presentation, collaborating with Max remotely. When he didn't show up at the Fort, Max notified R3M mercs. They found him in a hotel room, catatonic. Transported to Talarin Crystal Tower. Being treated by Phoebe Wyrick. Psychomancer named "Blake" coming
• DM: > Jane uses Greater Restoration on Ryu to lift curse, while Col MacLachlan meets the rest of the team
• DM: MacLachlan arrives. Colonel Bernard MacLachlan is a white human male. He's a tall, fit man with tanned skin and gray hair. MacLachlan neither especially handsome nor ugly. He projects authority and control. He's wearing a modest gray suit, with a R3M lapel pin. His light brown eyes are bright with perceptiveness, with smile lines and a sense of wisdom.
• Lyndi 3.0: Lyndi stands now, back against one of the whiteboards, looking curious and attentive. Phobos starts sniffing at the Colonel's boot, then goes back to sleep.
• DM: > Jane and Ryu return. Ryu is looking weak but OK
• Joslin: > Busies herself providing drinks and food for the meeting
• Haelra Vayn: Haelra sits up straight and collects herself
• Haelra Vayn: when the Colonel turns around and no one is looking she smacks herself awake completely
• Haelra Vayn: Ellison sleeps through all this
• DM: Dr. Harold Zhao Substantial injuries from the blast. Transported to the Primex Aon Center in downtown Chicago. We have at least one source inside Primex. Last update: in a healing coma. Communicating telepathically. Unprecedented event: overcoming the power of a RA reality anchor. The anchor's magic seems to have infected him via the Law of Contagion. Healing magic has been less than fully effective. If he survives, he may still experience long-term effects.
• Joslin: That sounds the origin story for a super villain.
• Jane Irwin: "He always did," Jane mutters. She seems torn between a bit of pride and frustration.
• Jane Irwin: JAne blinks at the praise, going pink in the cheeks; her tail cur;s with embarressment, and she looks at her coffee cup.

• Max: > Krisella and I will run an analysis on who seemed ready to exploit Raptor Blue's apparent demise
• Jane Irwin: (Maybe? It seems like she doesn't care, however.)

• DM: > Chuck is taking Jerry on a tour of the Fort
• Haelra Vayn: Talk Softly, Carry a big stick
• Haelra Vayn: We are a big stick
• Haelra Vayn: That has been proven
• Jane Irwin: A slow, pointedly toothy smile stretches on Jane's face.
• Max shares highlights of Jerry's story
• DM: > MacLachlan suggests not cooperating with the investigation, by declaring the whole time trip as secret for security reasons
• DM: > Brother Iron offers, "Insectoids are aberrations. They need host bodies to remain in our multiverse."
• DM: > Max murmurs, "Just like illithids."
• Max: > "Primex, like the League of the Rusted Crown, is a large organization, with plenty of shadows. Erik Holloway operated in one of them."
• DM: > Lyndi made a positive impression on Mackey, according to MacLachlin
• Jane Irwin: JAne's face falls again, thinking of Nails.
• Jane Irwin: Jane smiles at that.
• DM: > MacLachlan and Krisella go off to stop the need for debriefing
• Draco: > "A gold dragon like Olbenym being imprisoned and exploited is an affront of immeasurable scale, to the Wyrm Princes and Lord Bahamut."
• Max: Exannarq said, "Heed the word of Primus, Lord of Mechanus. The threat to the True Order has not been neutralized. You must persist in your interdiction. I will show you the consequences should you fail."
• Lyndi sets priorities
