Being
Oskar is a living book, created using adintech.
The book has plain cover of pale blue fabric. It's about 8 inches by 6 inches by 1.5 inches. It floats merrily above the floor, staying within arm's reach of Zora. When Lyndi reaches for it, it bobs away from her, bobs back, bobs away. As if it's playing with her.
The book sings with quiet, steady magic, like the effortless warmth of summer sunlight on your face. The book is both powerful and young. The book is a tree. The tree was very young when it was cut down and made into a book. The tree was planted in a park in the great city of Naktamun, along the Luxa River, on the plane of Amonkhet. The tree watched and listened and learned, and knows the stories of many, many initiates. They studied and rested, argued and flirted in the shade of the tree's leaves. The tree watched the initiates strive in the Five Trials set by the God-Pharaoh. The tree heard that many failed and died, and the tree watched as their friends and family mourned them. The tree heard that some initiates succeeded and rose. The tree heard of their pride and fame. The tree watched the Black Pyramid be built. The tree heard the speculation and the wonder, at what this Final Pyramid could portend. The tree was cut down and spirited away before the Black Pyramid was completed. The tree wonders what has become of Amonkhet, and where all the other trees are now. The tree cannot feel them.
