Destiny Rescription

Magic

A destiny rescription is a magical enchantment. It's a kind of "file name overwrite." It tries to change a thing by renaming it, usually subtly and incrementally. To those able to perceive it, a rescription can appear as a cross between a line of cursive script and an etching of a Celtic-style braid.

Rescriptions are ancient magic, similar to rune magic. They were first used by some of the elder races to reshape living and nonliving things by renaming them.

For most living beings, a destiny rescription is trivially easy to resist, because the being has the Limit of Essential Nature on their side. Of course, a being may not want to resist the rescription. Like most magic, rescriptions can be used for positive or negative intents and outcomes.
