A section of space and reality mostly isolated by a barrier called the Breakwater. The Closeness includes Earth, Sihblos, Tessera, and several other known worlds. The Talarin Corporation openly believes that more unknown worlds also exist, waiting to be discovered.
Beyond the Closeness, other beings and factions refer to Closeness as "The Isolation" (referring to the Breakwater) or "The Iron Huggers" (referring to the focus on science and technology on Earth, and the relative absence of magic).
