Mission Report

Friday, Dec 15, 2017 ((May 5, 2019))
Team: Lyndi Fletcher (Aslene), Jane Irwin (Cael), Edward Chase (Aunne), Zoraida Gurrande (Quorgi), Cadeos (DragoN), Haelra Vayn (Basil), Cyrus Riggs (DM), Rokk Smackjaw (Acele)

Battle Continued

  • Enemies
    • Mechadead Shadowfringe Zombie
  • Damage to the incubation chamber damages it
    • It opens
    • Alpha released
    • Half-orc male, heavily enhanced with cybernetics
    • Wearing specialized armor, rifle, pistol, greataxe
  • DM: The mechadead appear to very sturdy killing machines. Among the 5 of them, only Axe 3 looks seriously injured.
  • Giant octopuses grapple and restrain mechadead
  • DM: The Raptors are becoming aware of the foul smell hanging over the mechadead. Vaguely like dissection class from high school biology, and something else.
  • Cadeos: Cadeos whips around in the dank corridor, his eyes scanning the field even as he focuses on the zombie struggling to get up. His glowing hand seeks out Phobos's should and he jerks on it, gaining a foot of elevation. Not skipping a beat, his legs fly out and a foot hits the zombie's head, sending it down slightly. The other leg slams into it's chin, throwing it down. Finally, the starting foot connects with the nose, chipping off and a spray of oilish substance spurts out as it's head hits the stone floor/wall.
  • Rokk Smackjaw: unbolts the door and opens it to let Proud in. He eyes him cautiously.
  • Rokk Smackjaw: growls at Proud. "I am *not* a wrestler. I don't even remember getting here!" He closes the door and secures it.
  • Haelra Vayn: Haelra smirks at the groaning zombie a few meters away from her. She flips through her weathered scrapbook of spells, settling on a page. Her hair whips behind her as she turns to stare at her target, her hands dancing, her lips murmuring. The translucent necromantic threads of the weave tangle around her arms and forearm, the smell of death faintly apparent. The glove glows, her eyes narrow, her hand snaps. Another skeleton hand slowly places finger after finger onto her target and tightens, the skin decaying. ((Or at least it would IF SHE EVER HIT))

Finishing the Sweep

  • DM: > H uses Goblet on downed mechadead, ensuring final death
  • DM: > P & Zm investigate the bloodstone heart room, and loot some of the advanced tech
  • Haelra Vayn: Haelra whips out a bejeweled goblet and a wineskin. She pours some in a goblet, and like the fun elf she is, then starts murmuring over the goblet, her eyes going dark. The wine turns to a dark metallic liquid and starts giving off a pungent stench. Not particularly bad, but similar to bleach. Haelra carefully pours the liquid through the erradicated mouths of the zombies, including her own reanimated one, letting it go, and thanking it for its service.
  • Jane Irwin: "...Good shit, kiddo." Jane nods to Haelra.
  • Haelra Vayn: After all the liquid is gone, her eyes return to their previous lilac state and she sits in a corner until she's needed.
  • Proud Flame has whipped out a toolkit from the crossbody bag he wears, and ihas swarmed up to remove cameras - which seem far more interesting to him than the king's ransom in gold and gemstones represented by the leftover bits of Heart.
  • Cadeos: Cadeos nod to Jane, his way of volonteering help without saying anything
  • Haelra Vayn: If Haelra has time, she will ritually cast gentle repose on the friendly zombie, as a sort of funeral given to someone who sacrificed for her.
  • Haelra Vayn: Haelra will investigate the core and take many notes and figure out ways to safely free souls w/o shadowfringe
  • DM: > H investigates the bloodstone hearts
  • Jane Irwin: Jane is FURIOUS. She crumples one advertising in her hands; it starts to smoke.
  • DM: > The full heart didn't rupture at once, but was systematically ruptured over time, evidently to create shadowfringe from the zombies
  • DM: > The zombies were humanoids. Before or after death, they were cybernetically enhanced in the lab. Then placed in the capsules, and raised as zombies, to await the rage ghosts from the bloodstones
  • Heart Chamber
    • The heart is uncut gems, gold and silver wire; surrounded by monitoring devices that look non-Tesseran
    • The heart has clearly ruptured: many gems are cracked and blackened, and there's no glow
    • Earth tech, with stickers peeled off, registration plates pried off
  • Draco
    • Based on his facial features and voice pattern, I have 99% confidence that Rokk Smackjaw is who he says. Specifically, he is a R3M trooper. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted in the Army and was selected to be a Ranger. During his deployment in Afghanistan, his unit killed a wizard. An object in the wizard's lab caused him to Change into a half-orc Unbound Fighter-type. Farwatch extracted him from his unit and offered him training as Unbound. However, he declined. 6 months later, he was recruited by Rogue Raptor Risk Management. Rokk's initial assessments, during induction and his first operations, were very positive. A transport helicopter carrying Rokk went down over blue water off-shore near Colombia, and all crew and passengers were believed dead.
  • Lab: Mechadead files
    • Rhino
    • Leopard
    • Wild Dog Redacted
  • Lab: Files
    • Astrid was here, was sending printed details on mechadead technology to Caterina Berrett, in exchange for material support of her research
    • Three shadowfringe mechadead zombies were sent to Earth, via the merchant company called Primex
  • Lab: Doorway turned into jumpgate
    • Destroyed from the far side
    • Coordinates are still intact (noted by Proud)
    • Metal box with Tundinzarn page
  • DM: > Raptors loot the files
  • DM: > P tries to take a mechadead head. H objects
  • DM: > H transports a mechadead with an intact head
  • DM: > Some bloodstones have been removed from the heart (possibly intact)
  • The team works together to remove the metal box from the jumpgate
    • Through A Mirror Darkly: This is a thick page of parchment, approximately 19x13 inches. The left edge is torn, as if it's been ripped from a book. The medium is colored ink, in a pointillist style. It depicts an aristocratic woman in a conservative dress of Victorian style, looking in a mirror. Her reflection is the same woman, but in more suggestive makeup (e.g., bright red lipstick) and clothing (e.g., plunging neckline, short hem, fishnet stockings). The title of the picture is inscribed in neat text under the picture. The reverse side is blank. The page holds a very strong aura of transmutation.
  • DM: > Octs are carrying file cabinets and the bloodstone heart
  • DM: > C carries files
  • DM: > H carries mechadead corpse
  • DM: > J & R carry evidence from the lab
  • DM: > P is carrying looted tech
  • DM: > Cy carries lab loot
  • DM: > L takes DNA from mechadead
  • DM: > L takes a piece of adaptive camou armor
  • DM: > L takes small cybernetic enhancements
  • DM: > L focuses on gun enhancements
  • Bron reports that he has the spelljammer helm
  • Back to Earth, to Talarin Crystal Tower
