Affiliations: Brotherhood of the Shroud; servant of Nicol Bolas
Mr. Smith was a male dracolich. He served Nicol Bolas, and also served as leader in the Brotherhood of the Shroud.
Mr. Smith enslaved Proud Flame and used him as an operative on Earth.
Raptor Blue defeated Mr. Smith on December 9, 2017 (RB 2-13).
Max looks at Proud Flame wordlessly for a long moment. Her tone is measured, thoughtful. "Your boss is... very close-hold on his background and agenda. He's a signatory to the Rational Ascendancy as an observer--all by himself, not as a representative of any faction--and apparently that was good enough for the leadership. His record on adherence to the RA treaty is spotless. He's not a member of the Council of Rational Ascendancy, but he is a regular observer. Your boss is… a wildcard. He made a general offer of your assistance months before Nails even proposed this team. I'm, uh, I'm not read in on what the exact deal was."
Brother Iron sets the cocoa back on the table and steeples his fingertips. "Mr. Smith is an enigmatic figure. On the Edge, that's saying something. In a secret world filled with obfuscation, he is a mystery unto himself. We know that he's been active at least since the Third Reich, at least in his current form and identity. Theories abound. Perhaps he is an Unbound human who ascended to the heights of arcane mastery. Perhaps he is a lich: a wizard who achieved and maintains immortality by burning souls. Perhaps he is a dragon, or a genie, or a demigod--the half-mortal child of a god. But whatever his true nature, his distinctive role on the Edge has been making deals. He barters for anything: clandestine information, magic items, arcane lore, interesting corpses, services rendered, influence over political leaders, corporate officers, military officers, and other notables, and so on. If you want something, anything, Mr. Smith can probably get it for you, at a price. And if you have something magical and rare, or know a valuable secret, Mr. Smith will probably offer to bid on it. And it seems that he deals with anyone and everyone, somehow maintaining a kind of neutrality among the factions and powers."
