The Stonehammer Clan is renowned for their unparalleled craftsmanship and unyielding bravery. Nestled deep within the heart of the Brayton Forest, they forge legendary weapons and armor. Their loyalty to kin and unwavering dedication to tradition make them formidable allies and fearsome adversaries.

History

The Stonehammer Clan traces its origins to the Stone Mountains, in the northwest corner of the continent Oban. The clan started as branch of the Stonejaw Clan, before growing in size and prestige to claim their own name and crest.

Stonehammer, Stonejaw, and many other clans abandoned their homes during the cataclysm that led to the present-day Sorrows. Stonehammer was a founding clan of the Shangon Empire.

Distinctions

Stonehammer Dvar claim to be descendants of the mountain itself. Their name comes from the famous hammers they wield: massive, rune-etched mauls of stone. According to legend, these weapons were first used in battles against the giants who once roamed the Stone Mountains.

Possible Guilt

Karak Stonehammer was Clan Chief at the time of the cataclysm. Some Dvar clans allege that Karak was at least partially responsible for the cataclysm. Rumors speak of a dark bargain, a broken oath, and the awakening of something terrible beneath the mountains.

Presence at Wytchfall

Stonehammer holds many fortresses and lands across the Shangon Empire. Wytchfall was one of their lesser holdings, until the invention of graven hulks. Many of the innovations in the design and construction of stone-based hulks were developed at Wytchfall and spread to other hulk manufactories. Rumors speak of dark energies used in the Wytchfall forges and stonecutters, leading to hulks that were stronger but also harder to control.

Culture & Beliefs

Honor in Rune and Stone: The Stonehammer Clan places immense value on craftsmanship, seeing their weapons and armor as extensions of their souls. To wield a proper stonehammer is to hold the essence of the clan’s history.

The Oath: A core tenet of Stonehammer belief is the Oath of Stone, a secret vow taken by members of the clan when they reach the rank of Master Crafter. The clan believes that breaking the oath brings ill luck on them all. Rumors say the fall of Stone Mountain was Karak Stonehammer breaking the oath.

Doomed Legacy: Despite their skills and considerable fortune, the Stonehammer Clan carries with them the reputation of bad luck they cannot escape. A prophecy speaks of the "Last Anvil's Fall," when the final hammer will strike stone, and their clan will meet its end—unless a champion emerges to break the curse that haunts their bloodline.
