A fusion core is a Technomancy artifact.

A typical core uses "warm fusion" to combine hydrogen nuclei to produce heat, which is then used to produce electricity via an integrated steam turbine. A popular source of nuclei is filtering water for rare hydrogen isotopes. Once a core is running, it can cover the cost of filtering and still yield a net wattage. The filtered water can be used for the steam in the turbine.

A core is usually unusable on its own. It must be integrated into a fluidics system (with nuclei fuel) and power distribution system (e.g., capacitors, transformers, cable runs).

Sihblosian Fusion Core

On Sihblos, fusion cores are generally only available as a gift from the Defiant Mother. The Mother or the Humbled Crone must bless a follower with the secrets of operation and system integration.
