Being
Affiliations: Night Market

Vince Suganda is a baron of the Night Market. He runs a cycle and skate shop there, called Vince's.

Vince Suganda is a black male human. He wears a greatcoat of heavy black wool, like something a Russian sailor might wear, with the collar turned up. He's added a gray knit cap and matching gloves.

((Vince is played by Idris Elba.))

Vince continues staring at the stove. "The Order of the Silver Comets, yes. Monster hunters. Big game." He shakes his head, seemingly in judgment but it turns into amusement. "What kind of mortal intentionally hunts things like beholders or aboleths?" He takes a breath. His tone is still moody and fragmented. "I grew up in the Gulf. First in Sudan, then Egypt. My mother was CIA, my father Sudanese intelligence. Probably inevitable that I followed in their footsteps. Training in the Egyptian regulars, then a special unit with CIA 'advisors.' As a spook. I got good, real good, especially wetwork. Because, you know, Unbound. Got recruited into a PMC you'll never hear the name of." A wry smile. "We were deep black assets in the Iraq invasion, 2003. Tasked to secure some targets the media could never learn about. Then out in the desert, I met a djinn. Imagine that. A Middle Eastern boy raised on Scheherazade's stories and Indiana Jones movies, meeting a djinn. Earned a wish. Spent it on ego. Spent it on 'make me the best.'" Vince shakes his head. "Wishes are slippery things. This one dropped me in the middle of an op the Comets were running. They'd infiltrated an illithid ship in the Astral. Then I show up, in my recon armor, toting my combat shotgun and a bandolier of grenades."
Accidentally or on purpose, Vince's memories Slip through the air, just like Brother Iron's did during the history lesson on Chicago. Jane and Ryu can see the dim corridor of the illithid spelljammer ship, can sense the fear and hate and discipline of the Comets, can hear the wavering moan of a slave somewhere in a lower deck.
"Damn near killed me on sight, the Comets, but I convinced them I wasn't some illithid trap or mind game. Even when I didn't know anything about anything of where I was or what was happening." He chuckles. "I think Uhoshi saw something in me, thank the gods. And it turns out that in the right hands, a combat shotgun and a bandolier of grenades can get shit done. Especially when, Surprise! You're suddenly fighting alien psionic masters who literally want to eat your brains."
Vince shakes his head again. "I impressed the Comets just enough that they let me join up, probationary. And that's when my training truly started, with Uhoshi as my teacher."
