Most (or all?) cities have city spirits. This includes lesser spirits, each with a domain as small as a neighborhood or even a park. A city typically has one greater spirit, with whole city as its domain.

According to many paradigms, a city spirit comes into being through the shared beliefs and emotions of the residents. The nature of those beliefs and emotions influences the personality and activities of the spirit. Founders and civic leaders can be especially influential. Notorious individuals and groups can also be highly influential. For example, Los Angeles is influenced by Hollywood, Detroit by the auto industry, and Chicago by Al Capone and his Chicago Outfit.

Sigil

Sigil is a focus on endless debate among experts on city spirits. Is the Lady of Pain the spirit of the city? If not, what is the spirit and what is its relationship to the Lady? Could the Lady prevent a spirit from existing, or at least moving freely?
