Overview

The Goggles of Nazar are a powerful magic item with several features. The owner can unlock each feature through studying and practicing with the goggles.

The goggles contain a shard of chaotic energy from the Outer Plane of Limbo. This chaos keeps them vibrating (or fluctuating) between different layers of reality.

Like many magic items, the goggles can adjust in size to the wearer. However, they're capricious and often won't work for just any wearer.

Charges

The goggles have five charges. They regain all charges once per day.

Features

The known features include:

  • The wearer can choose to simultaneously see the Grid and the Swift, when located on either layer of reality.
  • As a bonus action, the wearer can spend:
    • 1 charge to see invisible beings and material for 10 minutes.
    • 1 charge to clearly see through lightly obscured and heavily obscured areas for 10 minutes, even if those areas are obscured by plants, fire, smoke, or fog. (Other effects that would obscure your vision, such as rain or darkness, affect you normally.)
    • 2 charges to cast Identify.

History

The goggles bear the craftmark of Godfrey Gleamik. Gleamik was an artificer of some renown on Eberron, in the mid-1900's. Gleamik was an Orc (he/him). His specialties including probability and luck. Gleamik created the goggles for his adventurer partner, Pril Nazar. Nazar was a Goblin (she/her). Nazar was a cat burglar of considerable renown.

The Goggles of Nazar were seized by the Rational Ascendancy from a Tong drughouse in Baltimore in 2016. Later, they were owned by Nails. It's unclear how he obtained them. The goggles are currently owned by Zenovi of Raptor Red.
