RR 1-4: Clearing Out the Bunker

Team: Delly (Cael), Fonn (Dragon), Ikhilzis (Schizo), Lae'eni (Aslene), Lottie (Basil), Smokes (Aunne), Ulthane (Sielic), Zenovi (Blank)

The team engages a cluster of Frayed in the Grid and Swift, and prevails. Lae'eni and Whisper catch the remnants of a scitter in the Swift. Lae'eni and Ulthane study it. Delly and Lottie study the corpse of a glitched Frayed tinman. The team discovers that the Frayed enemies share a hive mind but their commander is absent. They also learn how to hack them from the Swift to possibly paralyze them. Fonn and Ikhilzis restore all the surveillance systems, getting a full picture of the Bunker and the remaining marauders. The team engages these final foes.

• Delly: "Miss Smokeclaw, you're a remarkably quick study."
• Delly: With a small flourish, a parrying dagger appears in one hand, and Delly draws her sword with the other.
• Fonn Razorenth: As the Tinman slides down the wall, Fonn pulls the blade out quickly and readies it for another opponent. She's unbothered by the body, undead don't affect her much
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood: "This room, is clear."
• Delly: "I remember- at the naval academy- we learned some about paramatter. It's most commonly associated with some traditions of magic, and with spectral undead. Some spectral undead can still manifest Swift energy into Grid matter or Grid kinetic energy. Those phenomena are typically fleeting, but any being with sufficient power can make something more permanent, like a block of iron or black stone. These paramatter beings are far more sophisticated than a block of stone.... and they seem glitched."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood cleaves his Scitter in two pieces, and nods to Ulthane as the Dvar utterly murders the other Scitter.
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood checks to make sure the blade is clean of any goo or code, even in the swift. "Still two more in the Grid side, we should deal with those soon."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood will nod to everyone in the Swift, and head back to the Grid. He's there for murder. Thinking right now is like swimming through clam chowder, but physical work is much easier.

  • Brother Iron is talking with Lisette.
  • Iron: I only met Myriad. I heard stories about Ruby Bridges from Jane Irwin, because she was working with Raptor Blue.
  • Lisette: They're fascinating, the Assembler Rebellion. I mean, assemblers scare me--
  • Iron: And me!
  • Lisette: And AForms, too.
  • Iron: Absolutely.
  • Lisette: But the Rebellion, I mean, the Etchinar. They didn't let their origin define them. To grow beyond the xenophobia of the, the Reavers. It's, it's really... impressive, I guess. And now, what they're doing with paramatter, with myxels and MForms, it's somehow less creepy and more... beautiful, I guess. More natural?
  • Iron: It's making what we're doing here possible. These MForms are the only way to keep Raptor Red unfindable by the targets. I can't say it's natural, but it's less... exploitive. Assemblers repurpose living organisms to create AForms. MForms are more...

  • Iron: (laughs) That's, that's true.
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood is just back into reality (Grid) between blinks. And is listening to eveyrone chat to Lisette.
• Delly: Delly walks cat-quiet, Snow on her shoulder and around like a scarf; her blades are bared like fangs.
• Fonn Razorenth: doesn't like Grusol on her shoulder. The extra weight -- however light -- throws her off.

  • Nails: The setup team has moved out. Most of the dorms are cleared. The new furniture is coming in.
  • Iron: We'll want to monitor whether each individual shows any particular tastes in decorating. That's one sign that their personalities are intact.
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: "This place... is paranoid. But - it's learning not to be. There are times I envy the druidic arts."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood: "Paranoia means you survive, especially when working with highly sensitive, experimental technology."
• Delly: "Paranoid? Learning?"
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood: "It SHOULD be paranoid."
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: "no, it is an old paranoia. From.. oh, a few decades ago. Places have egos - just as people do. This one was.. a product of its age. Now, it is learning to be part of a /new/ age - but changes are hard for people. They are slower and harder for places - places take on generations of those that live in them."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood will see if he can activate and give more access to Lisette for more control. Automated guns to murder the rest of the tin men would be nice, but he doesn't expect that kind of luck.
• Delly: "Interesting." Delly considers, and pats the wall, friendly-like.
• Whisper caught the remnants of a scitter in the Swift and brought them to Lae'eni
• Delly: "Interesting." Delly considers, and pats the wall, friendly-like.
• Delly: Snow, the woolpertinger, sniffs the air and sneezes.

  • Nails is talking with RJ.
  • RJ: The reports are unreliable, but it appears to be an insentient self-replicating pathogen. A computer virus, basically, but it infects paramatter.
  • Nails: And this is what the Therosians are calling the Violet Creep?
  • RJ: No. That's the probability balancing matrix. There's a theory it's divine in origin, but corrupted with adintec.
  • Nails: And both are related to paramatter?
  • RJ: Yes. The virus propagates through paramatter. Repurposes it, really, And this is what Cult of the Frayed seems to worship. Or at least exploit.
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood: ".... MULTIPLE threats located. Hm."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood sighs.
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw watches Ikhilzis work, appreciatively.
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood lifts the body, fireman carries it. "If it comes alive behind me, shoot it. Don't worry about me."
• Delly: "Very well. I'll do my best not to gore you nonetheless."
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood: "Yes, you are that Fragile."
• Ulthane Stonebeard: "Smokes, they go for you so much because you're the same size."
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: "It is true that you should /always/ beware the small ones. They are only exhibiting a certain wisdom."
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw scratches absently at the.. origami raven that's on her shoulder. it leans into the contact... and its 'eyes', or where they should be, flare a ghostly emerald.
• Lae'eni: La'eni, eyes forward, the shrike wings unfolding from her back as Whisper raises it's head - sticks the rainbow ball on the tip of one of her thumbs where she can easily trigger it. She says casually to Ulthane, "Your code work was elegant and brutal. I rather admired it."
• Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw , at the notion of difficult ground, smiles in a way that can only be described as 'toothy'. Her teeth are surprisingly white and gleaming.
• Delly: "I've been wanting to test that."
• Fonn Razorenth: Fonn eyes people as they fight, eyes assessing. She seems satisfied so far and smiles a bit at every slain foe
• Delly: She's stll shimering faintly with that heat, an aura around her fading slightly, though it's clear as she does it's not just an aura, but a shape of something.,...
• Fonn Razorenth: Fonn nimbly dashes past her allies into the room, sword clutched in one hand and her revolver in the other. She barely skids across the metal when she stops and fires, her half-cloak fluttering with the recoil
• Ikhilzis Poisonblood gets bashed in the face, and just smiles, as the Rage allows him to halve the damage. And there's a LOT OF FANGS IN THAT SMILES.
• Delly: Delly moves like her dubious title, grace and power coupled with speed... even when her attacks go awry. She coordinates with Ikilthis with ease.
