RR 1-2: Lisette, Frayed, & Grusol
Mission Report
Tue, Jan 29, 2019 ((Nov 20, 2021))
Team: Delly (Cael), Fonn (Dragon), Ikhilzis (BLANK), Lae'eni (Aslene), Lottie (Basil), Smokes (Aunne), Ulthane (Sielic), Zenovi (Dae)
The team continues forming up. Zenovi heals Lisette, who fills the heroes in on what she knows. The team is in "the Bunker" deep under Washington, DC. They are a secret project, led by Nails and Brother Iron. While they were being transferred to the Bunker, something interfered, came through, and attacked. There's a quarantine in effect, so Lisette chooses to stay in her stasis tube. The team begins exploring the Bunker, on the grid and in the Swift. They find more gear. They take down a frayed tinman zombie, triggering an ambush by scitters. They defeat these transforming enemies. The heroes find a Brigganock (mouse folk) named Grusol Stronso, who explains that his clan has been helping retrofit the Bunker for the project.
Details
- Absent: Ikhilsis
- Comatose man in the pod
- RJ Foster is a black human commtech (he/him). He's tall and lanky, with the muscle tone of a gymnast. He's wearing a gray turtleneck, an unbuttoned gray-and-purple flannel shirt, dark cargo pants, and black combat boots.
- Young woman in the stasis pod is Lisette
- Lisette Carrell is a young white human cadet (she/her). Her eyes are intelligent, tinged with a lingering sadness. She's wearing a black turtleneck, dark green tactical vest (unzipped), dark gray cargo pants, and black combat boots.
- Paramatter Infection. Quarantine Active.
- Areas: Lab, Offices, Entry, Commons, Residential
- Swift: Oldest layer: paranoia and fear. Newer layer: optimism and fringe science. Latest: violence and violence
- Lae'eni's voice comes muffled from inside, the soft glow of a blue pulse tracing through some of her circuitry tattoos. "Perhaps some of you could monitor those doors to the south, just in case?"
- Lisette: Is the man in the upper tube OK?
- Lisette: His interface has been interrupted
- Lisette: RJ is the chief engineer of this project.
- Lisette: Project = you
- Lisette: Where are Nails and Brother Iron?
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw moves to keep an eye on the door, thoughtful - and nodding to Ulthane.
- Lisette: Nails and Iron went to bolster the defenders
- Lisette: His interface has been interrupted
- Lisette: The other member of your team. His interface
- Lisette: The, um, I forget his name. The Yuan-ti
- Lisette: I'm safer in here. I...
- Liette: I'm not sure what I'm allowed to tell you. RJ is. I'm just an intern.
- Lisette: Sorry. This is a lot
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: Chain: "Well it is to /me/. And I once arrested an abyssal with an allergy to shellfish."
- Lae'eni: Chain: Smokes? Oh my goodness, that is you! I'm so sorry... in all the bustle... oh my... look! In the phsyical and all!
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: "... Lae'eni!" (relief) "... thank goodness. I hadn't.. made the connection. I'm sorry. At least I know two others - when time permits. Tea?"
- Lisette: Scitters. They sent scitters through
Li* ette: Scitters are tier 1 paramatter offensive platforms
- Lisete: They're like, the size of trash can lids. They travel on any surface, and attack with close combat and short range
- Lisette: If you're looking for more weapons, the gear room is east through the main lab
- Lisette: I can tell you the rough floorplan is that helps
- Lisette: *if
- Liette: OH, you CAN'T tell people you exist. You're not supposed to exist
- Lisette: You are all casualties of the Battle of Gevoka, infected with the Violet Creep
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw: "Pretty name." Topi gives a /look/. Across the room.
- Fonn Razorenth: "Quite menacing. What kind of purple, creeps?"
- Lisette: It's above my clearance. I just know it's bad, but essential to what they did to bring you back
- Lisette: Oh, if you see a mouse try talking to it
- Lisette: If you can get to RJ's office, I know the password to his laptop. If you can bring it here and link to this tube's system, I can do more.
- Lisette: If any of you can shift or project to the Swift, you want to watch it. Scitters like to ambush from there
- Lisette: OH! And there may be zombies. I think Nails said there were zombies
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw fishes in a pouch, moving out of the way of the door after looking through the fridge.. and pulls out a sheet of paper. This, she begins folding, humming to herself. Rather complex folding - origami? Huh.
- Lae'eni shakes her head sadly and backs away from the fridge. She moves over to the door, covers Fonn's back as she does so.
- Lottie: This opium is great for curing colds! But I'm afraid the rest have needlessly complicated names.
- Lisette: We call it the Bunker. It was built by an industrialist in the 1960s, as a bomb shelter
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw continues folding that paper as she moves - still humming that song, softly.
- Laeni slides some tools loose from the carapace parts of her suit and begins to mess with the camera, her eyes flaring bright blue as a cyber overlay flares across them.
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw finsihes that folding - a paper raven, with remarkable detail. She breathes over it in her hands... and it flutters to her shoulder. Tilting its head. Cawing, in a rustle of paper.
- Memory bead in the Swift, unlocked by Smokes and Zenovi
- Brother Iron is a white human earthkeeper (he/him). He's a tall, older man with deep smile lines. His eyes have a mix of playful kindness and worldly weariness. He's wearing a charcoal suit, gray scarf, and black leather loafers.
- Brother Iron is talking with RJ Foster. RJ: I still don't understand. You're saying that you talk with mice? Iron: No. I'm saying they're talking mice. Mice-folk, really. They're fey, so they have more in common with Zenovi than with Terran mice. RJ: Well, whoever they are, they're doing solid work replacing the cable runs. It's great having help that can get directly into the conduit.
- Lae'eni: In the swift, Lae'eni has a plain looking flight suit with paraglider type wings made froma patchwork of ship metals. Her suit and wings are scorched - like they barely survived a major explosion. Her hair is a riot of purple dreds that appear to be floating in zero-gravity.
- Lottie: Lotie is wearing a Tanath Aramount flight suit and has a gun sort of haphardardly in the waist band dipping into a pocket. One other pocket jingles a bit when she rests her hand in it, as if full of bullets. Her gun is pointed toward her, though. Not dangerous to anyone, especially not the warforged.
- Delly: In the swift, Smokes is the picture of health, and her horns are more antler than draconic. The flower blooms with unnatural life - if anything, she seems more real here than in the physical world and her scales gleam brass. Her clothing is neater, less fussy - and the scent of the green follows her as she moves.
- Fonn Razorenth: Fonn is incredibly alert and on guard, fufilling her role on the team well, but once or twice you can catch her tracing the same runic sign on her glove to no visible effect. For those who speak elvish, it says "life" and she does it in a practiced way. Perhaps it's a magical ritual, perhaps it's merely superstition.
- Kils takes R3M gear back to Lisette
- Lottie puts her revolver and sword on a correct belt now. Also changes into a civilian's tee shirt and skirt she finds in a locker, if applicable.
- Topi "Smokes" Smokeclaw does not, it seems, handle pain well - and given that it cleanly tears into her side, it is likely not pain anyone could handle well. She yips, staggers, and yowls as blood flows.
- Fonn Razorenth: When Fonn attacks the Tinman, she sort of leaps forward the least five feet and uses her momentum to force her blade with more strength. This has the side effect of bringing both her and her victim to the ground, Fonn crouching in readiness. It's a flawless stealth kill with limited flashiness and no attachment to the target.
- Fonn Razorenth: cloak absorbs bloodstains the same way it does anything else. It's a few shades darker, but wouldn't be suspicious to an untrained eye
- Delly moves with incredible speed and grace, something like parkour if it was a sword style, and a stunning edge of savagery to the movements of her blade. She goes from stillness to motion in an explosive heartbeat and cleaves the skitter in two with one stroke that sings, strong and clear and almost joyously wild, with a humming edge to it that lingers.
- Delly: The paper raven on Smoke's shoulder rustles.
- Grusol Stronso is a gruff old Brigganock miner and engineer (he/him). He has a shrew, skeptical manner. He's wearing work leathers, a well-stocked toolbelt, and a backpack. He's carrying some kind of pickaxe/climbing axe.
