Place

Dvarholm is the home realm of the Dvar. Non-Dvar often call it Dwarven Mountain. It's part of a place called the One Mountain. One Mountain is seen as a single realm in the Outlands, in the center of the Outer Planes. However, the One Mountain actually extends throughout the planes. Here is a relevant excerpt from a Dvaren text:

For all its size and glory, the One Mountain is merely a peak. It is the Great Graybeard of a far greater "clan" of mountains stretching across the multiverse. The One Mountain's roots stretch through the Swift to countless worlds. There are veins of ore and gems extending from one plane to another. There are some natural tunnels and even Dvar-carved mines that transit planar borders. These Deep Ways are very sacred to the Mordinsamman, and they are known only to chosen Dvaren champions, messengers, and miners.

Some Dvar believe that the Deep Ways lead as far as the Inner Planes, the very fountainheads of stone and fire.

Some Dvar use "Dvarholm" and "One Mountain" interchangeably, while others distinguish the realm in the Outlands from the infinite underground that radiates from it. This reflects a difference of opinion among Dvar.

  • In the "One Dvar" doctrine, all underground spaces are the birthright of the Dvar, including the resources and treasures.
  • In the "Good Neighbor" doctrine, the birthright only extends to Dvarholm in the Outlands. The Dvar should only claim and use other territory according to their needs and ingenuity, and in agreements and treaties with other "civilized" peoples.
