Assemblers are an autonomous, adaptive, nano-scale, biomechanical lifeform. Fundamentally, assemblers are a combination of nanomachines and variable protein compounds. Assemblers form mobile pools that often resemble liquid silver or mercury. Pools join into swarms and swarms build hives.
Assemblers have limited abilities in their initial form. However, assemblers are capable of adapting living and nonliving materials into a variety of purposeful creatures and devices. This especially includes Assembler Forms, or AForms. A wide variety of AForms have been observed.
Most assembler swarms demonstrate extreme territorial and xenophobic tendencies. They try to assimilate or destroy any animals or plants they encounter (e.g., humans). Due these tendencies, the Rational Ascendancy categorically bans the presence of assemblers in the Closeness.
Assemblers were created when the Reaver Combine assimilated several clones of Elias Rossman.
