Mission Report


Sat, Jan 13, 2018 ((Jan 1, 2020))
Party: Lyndi Fletcher (Aslene), Jane Irwin (Cael), Cyrus Riggs (Sielic), Proud Flame (Aunne), Haelra Vayn (Basil), Shiro (DragoN), Sylvi (Daewendriel), Vae'gaun (Razas)

The Raptors cooperate with the initial investigation into the AForm attack. Vae'gaun arrives unexpectedly. Vae'gaun and Cyrus collaborate to locate two cloaked assembler ships in the system. Delanos Skyguard asks Raptor Blue to force recon one of the ships. Vae'gaun chooses the ship: the Oldbuck. Proud helps the team suit up for a space op. Jassin Torina introduces the Raptors to a friend: Seberios, a bariaur armorer. Seberios replaces or enhances some of the team's weapons. The Raptors travel to the Oldbuck aboard a Skyguard dropship, the Subtle Word. They stealthily enter and start their sweep. They neutralize many AForms before triggering an alarm. They defeat almost all the remaining AForms and secure most of the ship. They pause before entering the cargo bay, because they sense a powerful AForm remains.

Battle Wrap-Up

  • Guards securing the scene, questioning everyone

  • Jassin Torina feels bad that the Raptors came Jassin's bar by their invitation
  • 3 horn blasts, Vae'gaun arrives by repurposing the sleeper-killer remains, then coughs up the inert assemblers

  • Lyndi greets Jassin in Tesseran dwarf fashion: "Deep mugs and hard iron."
  • Jassin says the hawyer had been in the bar for 5 days, every day


  • Delanos gathers leaders to him
  • If an AForm on Themis Station, there may be a greater presence somewhere in system
  • Running a sweep
  • Cyrus (Ractor) and Vae'gaun can detect two cloaked ships
  • Delanos:
    • Need to hold, neutralize, and gather intel on this infiltration
    • Unbound are significantly more resistant to assembler infection
    • We have one team of Unbound to target one ship
    • Ask you to infiltrate the other ship


  • Proud has spacesuits (Combat Spacesuit Talarin Mk3)


  • Jassin brings a friend to the bar
  • Seberios, bariaur armorer (he/him/his) ("bro, sis, vibes")
    • Accompanied by 6-legged robot with many cases and pouches (with extradimensional properties)
    • Benson, rogue Mechanos drone
  • Advice
    • Firearms aboard station or ship: bad
    • Recommend muscle-powered weapons or crossbows
    • Recommend Gauss instead of gunpowder
    • Can also switch to flechette rounds or icefang rounds
  • Changes
    • Sylvi's revolver is a Gauss model and is loaded with icefang rounds (edited in FG)
    • Dealbreaker, Revolver +2 traded for Bad Surprise
    • Black Cat, Sniper Rifle +2 traded for Food for Worms
    • Shadowbite, Defender of Dreams, +1, small enough can retrofit Gauss system, making it a heavier pistol (edited in FG)
  • Jane gives Seberios a pamphlet on Dol'modeen

Approaching the Ship

  • Max had a bad experience with assemblers at the Academy
  • Several members of her cadet squad didn't make it out of a hive

    • Almost all shipboard combat is close-quarters combat
    • Combat in zero gee is three dimensional combat
    • Assemblers try to disrupt humanoid senses, electronic sensors, and your overall sense of reality

  • The Oldbuck is an Independent Trading Vessel. The crew of 4 are all halflings: Captain Erard Galpsi (he/him/his); First Officer Bell Sandyman (she/her/hers); Chief Engineer Angilbert Roper (he/him/his); Cargomaster Kristen Knotwise (she/her/hers). The ship's nova intelligentsia is Edwin. It makes steady trips between Indomitable in the Skyguard System and the Arrowfall Reaches (Hegemony stations on the frontier with the Planters), the Synda System (Hegemony system), and the Polomoth System (free station).

On Board

  • The Subtle Word attaches near engineering and cuts a hole into the ship
  • Creep by webbers
  • High humidity, particles in the air


  • Team carefully enters and starts sweeping
  • Team destroys several AForms without triggering an alarm
  • Max: The Oldbuck was known to transport agricultural products, so you may be observing assembled plant material.
  • Max: The engines are cold. The ship can't go anywhere until the engines are powered up, which for a ship like might take minutes.
  • Team ultimately triggers an alarm
  • Battle against two hunter-killers near the central corridor junction
  • Team wins
  • Team sweeps the rest of the ship, except the cargo bay
  • Several Raptors sense a powerful AForm is in the cargo bay
