Amonkhet is a plane devastated by Nicol Bolas. It's predominantly a desert teeming with undead. Humanoid civilization was centered around Naktamun, a vibrant city-state. Naktamun thrived on the banks of the Luxa River, protected from the harsh climate and the undead by a magical barrier called the Hekma.

Amonkhet has a rare necromantic phenomenon called the Curse of Wandering. "This naturally occurring magic causes any being who dies on the plane to rise again after a short time, cursed with insatiable hunger and an irresistible drive to attack the living." (Plane Shift: Amonket, p. 6) The Curse is probably related to the abundance of lazotep in the ground.

The survivors are migrating to New Amonkhet.
