The Lazarus Society (LazSoc) is a secret society (some would say cult). It was founded by Elias Rossman in the mid 1910's. The Society explored and exploited Mosaic worlds, experimented with magic, and generally tried to profit from selling "miracles of science" to private buyers (e.g., rich people with chronic illnesses).
The Society's illegal and dangerous paranormal activities drew the attention of Farwatch and the Phoenix Group. As his schemes were thwarted, Rossman became more paranoid and reckless. His strategies included making many clones of himself. Some clones were assimilated by the Reaver Combine and spawned the Assembler Plague.
Following the defeat of Elias Rossman by Batch 071, the Society was reformed by Daniel Oshay. The Society renounced its past and struck an uneasy peace with its persecutors. The Society is now acts as a front for Assembler Rebellion activities on Earth, not unlike how Sentinel acts as a front for the Phoenix Group.
