We commenced with the trial of Izros Tear Miser. The defense was led by Jules Theophilus Prescott, a Devil. He was assisted by Nikaros Brineheart, a bounty hunter. The prosecution was led by Skadi, with help from Wraith. Through Elara Morganstern, the Crone presented different images, including a messenger and a journalist. Ragdoll presented an image of the slave suffering at Gavchelkar Ranget. Jules presented an image of a fan at a martial arts fight. Elara presented an image of a medical examiner. After each image, Jules and Skadi built on their arguments. Jules argued that Izros was not responsible for mortals’ suffering and only fed on it by necessity. Skadi argued that Izros was a destructive parasite without a redeemable role in the natural ecosystem of Sihblos. The Crone judged Izros guilty and asked the marshals to recommend destruction or continued imprisonment. The marshals chose destruction. In the final moment, Elara arranged for Izros’ memories to be transferred to Skadi.

After the trial, we were returned to Cloud Lab 3. We resumed our sweep, protect, neutralize. We discovered that Jules is in the ops center.

Details

  • It's Friday, March 12, 2027, 10 am.
  • It's been 35 days since the Wall went up (2/7/2027).
  • Key and Pebble are present but distracted by something
  • Jules is an operative of Mephistopheles. Mephistopheles is the ruler of Cania, 8th level of the Hells of Baator. Mephistopheles is the de facto 2nd in command of all Baator. Mephistopheles' agents are heavily involved in adintech, including Jules.
  • Balto: Balto flicks her eyes ti Skadi and seems to take a bit of strength from her calm. Togo sits next to her, seeing to sense the gravity of the moment. He has one ear forward and one ear toward to the Crone.
  • Jules excels at tempting mortal businessfolx into bargains. He is skilled in all sins, and especially vanity.
  • Breaker: Breaker sits down on a bench equidistant from the defense and prosecution docks, ready to intervene if needed while keeping the Goddess under observation
  • Jules was intimately involved in the spread of graven hulks on Tessera, leading to a devastating war.
  • Breaker: In the chain: I can probably put at least one of these scunners down 'afore they can react. Who's the priority if that comes about
  • Breaker: In the chain: I've got grenades
  • Wraith: Chain: We're in court, presided over by a goddess. Do you think they'll need us to act if something goes down. What kind of bailiffs do you think gods bring?
  • Breaker: Chain: This'd be more of a 'for the good of society', style of thing
  • Skadi and Wraith, prosecutors
  • Skadi: -chain- I tend to agree with Wraith, it would be unwise to cross the Crone. However, she's been quite hands on this entire time, and who knows what the will of the Goddess will be. I'm thinking the bounty hunter, as the demon will likely not be stirred by a grenade.
  • Breaker: -chain- There's nae chance these two don't have a few pages worth of grudges that need answerin'.
  • Breaker: -chain- Wish I had studied more about the major binding and conjuring runewords, they're nae common nowadays
  • Skadi: -chain- They seem to be attempting to assert that Izros is distanced from the pain and suffering being caused.
  • Skadi: -chain- He is a messenger. He's just a reporter. What responsibility does a reporter have for the chaos and suffering they are reporting on? If they come upon someone trapped under a car, are they required to help that person, or just report on it?
  • Skadi: Parasite.
  • Skadi: Actively interacted - didn't passively observe.
  • Jules and Brineheart whisper
  • Ragdoll presents a memory of Gavchelkar
  • Wraith: In the Chain: Breaker, dare you to jump over the bench and try to hit Isros. Super dare you
  • Skadi: Chain: Wraith...
  • Breaker: -chain- Gimme a barrel of dwarven IPA and a sausage-inna-bun first
  • Skadi: Outsider, Deliberately affecting things, Unnatural messing with the balance.
  • Wraith: In the Chain: Skadi, you should examine Isros and get him to incriminate himself, get him all fired up so that he misspeaks
  • Skadi: -chain- -sense of nodding-
  • Wraith has been furiously taking notes, but if Skadi looks over, she can see it's just a bunch of drawings of dragons and monsters and swords and guns. and drawings of wrath with cybernetics
  • Balto: Balto stiffens. Her jaw sets; her eyes narrow.
  • Breaker: -chain- All in favor of indiscriment violence say aye
  • Wraith: Chain: Yeah! Try it! I want to see what happens. I've been in a lot of courts, none like this. Charge the stand!
  • There seems to be no question that the Crone can destroy Izros with no effort
  • Kalvekia: a Reaver prison ship buried under the ice (of Icewind Plateau) and claimed by the Crone
  • Louisa Vyner is the descendent of a great cleric of the Crone
  • Marshals recommended destruction
  • Elara intervened and recommended the preservation of Izros' memories. Skadi chose to take them, with permanent consequences
  • Balto: "Copy that boss," Balto nods- and Togo gives her a butt against the chest as he goes by. She looks back briefly. "You stay safe." Then she's in business mode, spear out, bohth moving inconcert.
  • Skadi: --reminder - it is better to be in a line then spread out because of gang up bonuses-
  • If two PCs swap between Grid and Swift, only one needs to spend a benny or action
