House Talarin is one of the oldest known Elven families. It's generally admired as powerful, graceful, and honorable. The House is also seen as progressive, both on social issues and in matters of discovery and exploration.
On the Edge, it's important to distinguish House Talarin from the Talarin Corporation. The House shares control of the Corporation with the Church of the Reverence.
House Talarin was a founding house of Tanyth Aramont, the Greater Elven Galactic Hegemony. Talarin remains close to the throne. Over the centuries, several Talarins have married into the imperial family of House Taramont.
House Talarin is also close to House Skyguard. This especially includes the Grand Imperial Navy. Talarin builds and maintains most of the Hegemony's space stations, while Skyguard builds and maintains the ships. Many Talarins have distinguished themselves as naval officers.
House Talarin power and reputation is rooted in its excellence in magic and science--both theoretical research and practical applications. This especially includes architecture and civil engineering. Large parts of Tanyth City on Aramont were designed and built by Talarin, including the current imperial palace.
House Talarin came to Tessera around 500 AD. The House helped found the Shangon Empire and has played significant roles in its prosperity and expansion.
