Each of Tiamat's Chosen bestows their mantle on a mortal follower. The mantle creates a unique bond between dragon and mortal. The precise nature and function of a mantle is unclear. The Chosen try to keep it that way, including killing anyone who learns too much about the mantles.
The Mantle-Bearers often operate independently, but they can also come together as a team.
Mantle-Bearers
The mantles are:
- Azure Chirurgeon: This is often a vain, brash scholar or medical doctor. Several Chirugeons have been famous for providing "miracle cures" that have unpleasant side-effects or too great a cost.
- Ebon Gravelord: This is often a vicious, sadistic illusionist or necromancer. Several Gravelords have been linked to scandals that brought down leaders and organizations.
- Emerald Cavalier: This is often a cunning, treacherous diplomat and/or spy. Many Cavaliers have been bards.
- Scarlet Miser: This is often a shrewd, ruthless entrepreneur.
- Winter Butcher: This is often a brutal, almost-feral warrior. Many Butchers have been barbarians or druids.
