Sentinel Consulting is a privately-owned corporation based in Seattle, Washington. The corporation specializes in security consulting and troubleshooting. The company is actually a front for the [[Phoenix Group]], although most Sentinel employees are not aware of this.

== Alleged Purpose ==

Sentinel is a global leader in security consulting and troubleshooting. Sentinel can design security systems from scratch, but few clients can afford this. Sentinel is primarily a clearinghouse, connecting clients with qualified companies, contractors, technicians, bodyguards, and the like. Sentinel studies other companies and personnel, and field tests security equipment and designs. The results are available in ''Sentinel Reviews'', an expensive subscription database.

Sentinel can also review the existing security of a company, site, or individual, and suggest improvements. After the client decides how much to spend, Sentinel oversees the upgrades. Sentinel retains a small corps of elite security specialists, who can be hired on short-term contracts. Finally, Sentinel offers expert witnesses to testify in court (especially in lawsuits against other security companies).

== History ==

Sentinel was originally Katana Security (founded by Michael Strack). Strack, a US Special Forces veteran, went into seclusion for many months. When he returned to the industry, he restructured Katana into Sentinel, and incorporated the renamed company (in early summer 2000). Building on Katana’s reputation and client base, Sentinel has risen to the top tiers of international private security. ''Sentinel Reviews'' has over 2700 subscribing institutions, including defense and intelligence agencies in industrialized nations.
